Something in the Way

I have been under an immense amount of pressure lately from about 20 different directions. This is the kind of span where people that no me steer clear and wait to come pick through the wreckage when the storm ends. So I have been, and will continue to be, a real jerk.

Read a short bio on Van Gogh yesterday...supposedly his last words were "the sadness will go on forever..." Its unfortunate the way we romanticize artists that are hurting...really. I wonder how alone it must feel for people to look at your sadness with admiration and mythic awe. Lost voices...Van Gogh was not a "tragic genius"...he was a brilliant man with a superabundance of sadness...at least his brilliance was not lost forever...he was...

No fancy quotes here, but just the following:
- Just pick. Make a deadline and choose. NOTHING will get done by weighing the pros and cons of your directions, and you are too practical to do anything stupid. Your 20 directions will get you to a point, yes, one point- does it matter how you get there?
- Finish your essays, and live atleast 2 hours each day, for that day only- no foresight- no decision making... I think this is one of the hardest things to try- but it's easier for some than others.
- REALLY enjoyed your last blog, though I too feel lonely, I am calm and happy.

jesus christ that's a rough line from Van Gogh there!

wonder if he meant the sadness of existence or his own sadness. in Wittgenstein's sense, our sadness never does end, just like our lives never do.

it's enough for one to take the solution Proust took and never leave your room...(and write a great masterpiece of world literature!)
